Thompson and Nowlin Victorious at Baker Orchard CX

Elite Men Podium

Elite Women Podium
Eric Thompson won the Elite Men race, and Jennifer Nowlin won the Elite Women race at the 5th annual Baker Orchard Cyclocross Race. Off and on rain brought classic greasy muddy condtions, compared to the dry conditions of the previous 4 editions of the event.

Thompson (Mt. Borah Epic) led from start to finish, taking a dominant win over 2nd place Kesha Zavyalov (MCT) and 3rd place Jesse Rients (Trek Cyclocross Collective).

Nowlin (The Fix Studio) took the hole shot, but then got tangled with another rider, falling way back. That left Fix Studio teammate Corey Coogan Cisek leading most of the race, with company later from Kelly Catlin (Gopher Wheelmen), who last week earned 2 top 10 finishes at the Junior Road World Championships. Nowlin recovered the lead on the final lap, and took the win. Catlin finished 2nd (1st Cat 3), Coogan 3rd, and Carrie Sansome (GP/Donkey Cross) 4th.

5th annual Baker Orchard Cyclocross Race

The 2013 edition of the Baker Orchard Cyclocross Race promises to be as great as the previous 4 editions. All the great course features are back by popular demand:
  • Racing through the 100 year old Orchard Barn
  • Log Stair Run-up
  • Sandpit
  • Double Track Sections through the woods
  • Racing through the apple trees
Like past years, there will be music and an race announcer to keep spectators up to date on each race as it happens.

Chip Timing will be used this year, to provide timely and accurate race results.

In addition to the $1000 prize list, our popular custom medals will be awarded to the top 3 in each race category, and each winner receives a peck of apples!

The Orchard Stand will be open for business and free hot dogs will be provided to all race participants.

We are working on adding a couple things to the event which will make it even more fun for the kids! Stay tuned.

Bring your friends and family to what will certainly be a spectacular event!
